As 2024 draws to a close, we look back at a year of growth, innovation and achievements for Lazada and its ecosystem through the best stories from the past 12 months.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the star of the year. The technology has been a game-changer for eCommerce, and we explored its potential with an article on how Lazada has been leveraging AI to transform the eCommerce experience. This year, the company also introduced a new suite of GenAI tools and features to enhance the user experience and operational efficiency. These upgrades were released together with a whitepaper that delves into the adoption and integration of AI in online shopping.
The past year also saw several milestones for Lazada as it continued to solidify its position as a leading eCommerce platform in the region and beyond. Lazada celebrated a pivotal achievement of reaching its first EBITDA-positive milestone in July, marking an important step in the evolution of Southeast Asia’s eCommerce ecosystem. The company also unveiled plans to expand its presence in Europe and to empower brands and businesses across the continent to tap into the Southeast Asian market with LazMall, Lazada’s dedicated destination for authentic and premium brands. Furthering its commitment to providing the best customer experience, Lazada also rolled out a more flexible and user-friendly returns and refunds policy earlier this year to make shopping on the platform even more seamless.
We were also inspired by the stories of many successful entrepreneurs on Lazada. For International Women’s Day, we featured six outstanding women entrepreneurs across the region who have built thriving businesses on Lazada. We also spoke to the founder of Thai fashion brand Garmenti, whose love for fashion transformed her online store into a flourishing business. Another top story was that of Indonesian skincare brand The Pastels Shop and its owner, who has made it her mission to share the science of beauty with her customers.
We can’t wait to share even more stories with you in 2025. Remember to subscribe to LazBeat to stay up to date with the latest stories and developments in the exciting world of eCommerce. See you next year!
