In the lead up to International Women’s Day on March 8, Lazada Philippines has joined forces with women empowerment community and advocacy agency She Talks Asia to amplify and celebrate the voices of female entrepreneurs.
With its “Female Fridays” series, Lazada Philippines and She Talks Asia aim to highlight the inspiring stories of women who have broken through the glass ceiling of the digital commerce industry.
The series kicked off on February 9 with a feature on Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez, the woman behind well-loved beauty brands Happy Skin and BLK Cosmetics.
Yuengtian-Gutierrez recounted the ups and downs she encountered on her journey to pioneer Philippines-made beauty products, and she also shared advice to other women who hope to chart their own path to success.
“For me, success means you’re happy. At the end of the day, you’re happy, you’re giving back to the community, you have a sense of purpose. Being able to provide for more people, and being able to give back and make Filipinas proud,” said Yuengtian-Gutierrez.
Delving into topics that may resonate with other women, the series also invited Evan Maderazo, the founder of locally handcrafted footwear brand Sundals, to share her story. Maderazo spoke about building a business in tribute to her own mother, grappling with “mom guilt” and finding a sense of pride and empowerment through her work.
The series is set to continue with stories from Five Beauty co-founder Veronica Eala and Lorina Tan of homegrown infant-care company Tiny Buds.
Since its establishment in 2022, SukiGrocer has taken great pride in being able to provide fresh, locally sourced produce to consumers in the Philippines.
After spending years dealing with the politics and bureaucracy of the corporate world, Luo Rong decided to establish her own business.
For DangaoSG founder Daniel Tay, building an online business has been an ever-evolving journey.
