To celebrate businesses that are making a positive impact on the world, eCommerce giant Lazada announced the winners of the first Lazada Sustainability Academy Awards in Indonesia last month.
The Lazada Sustainability Academy (LSA) was launched last October with the aim to empower small and medium-sized enterprises in Southeast Asia to operate and grow in the digital ecosystem in a more sustainable manner. Designed for businesses at all stages of the sustainability journey, the academy provides a holistic curriculum that includes everything from online learning materials to a six-month training program that culminated in the LSA Awards.
“The Lazada Sustainability Academy Awards 2024 is our effort to appreciate sellers on Lazada who are conscious about their impact on the environment and have begun to transform towards sustainability in their business operations,” said Adiputra Wiharja, senior vice president of Lazada Logistics Indonesia.
For the inaugural awards, five winners were selected and received a total of IDR100 million (USD6,200) for their outstanding sustainability efforts. Jakarta-based beauty brand Berkah Wangi Parfum was named the grand winner. Local healthcare brand Al-Mubarokah Herbal, fashion label Gudang Jean’s, cosmetics brand Chipa and clothing store Damai Fashion also received awards that recognized their excellence in different areas of sustainability.
“Our hope is that the Lazada Sustainability Academy Awards event can be a catalyst for the adoption of sustainable business models for online sellers, thereby reducing waste, preserving resources and contributing to a healthier planet,” said Wiharja. “Through collective efforts and transformation across the industry, we envision a future where eCommerce not only grows economically but also plays a crucial role in achieving sustainability goals in the region”
