Lazada Unveils New Regional Headquarters and Launches Foundation to Empower Youths and Women

Lazada Group this week officially announced the launch of its new Southeast Asia headquarters in Singapore’s Bras Basah district. During the opening ceremony held on Monday, Lazada Chief Executive Officer Chun Li explained that the new premises, unveiled in conjunction with the company’s 10th anniversary, reflected the eCommerce company’s strong foothold in Southeast Asia as well as its continued commitment to fueling the growth of the region’s digital economy.

“Establishing Lazada One in Singapore, the gateway to Southeast Asia, reinforces our commitment to support the growth of the digital commerce industry. Our presence here reinforces our mission to accelerate progress in Southeast Asia through commerce and technology in the next 10 years and beyond,” Li said.

Designed as an office of the future, Lazada One is a sprawling 109,000-square-feet space that facilitates hybrid and flexible work arrangements. Aside from an office architecture that makes in-person collaboration easier than ever, top-of-the-line equipment and facilities enable seamless remote teamwork across the entire region.

Li added that the new headquarters will also accelerate Lazada’s efforts to fostering talents and youths to sustain digitalization and innovation in Southeast Asia. Keeping in line with this vision of long-term growth, Li also used the opening ceremony to announce the launch of Lazada Foundation. Apart from recognizing young talent with outstanding academic achievements, Lazada Foundation works with local strategic partners to award scholarships to underserved communities, such as women in technology and underprivileged youths. For example, in the Philippines, Lazada works with local non-profit organization For The Women Philippines to offer scholarships for data science courses to young women. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, Lazada Logistics will partner with educational institutions to provide financial assistance to family members of frontliners through its Gerakan Solidaritas Lazada Logistics program.

Singapore’s minister for communications and information, Josephine Teo, graced the Lazada One opening ceremony as its guest of honor. Aside from touring the premises, Teo also delivered a speech that spoke to the government’s investments in the region’s digital growth, especially in the areas of SME digitalization, last-mile delivery infrastructure and human capital.

Teo also spoke with Kenneth Ong and Natalie Koh, graduate hires from the Lazada Forward Youth program. The campus recruitment program was designed to identify talented and passionate youths who are interested in the fast-growing eCommerce industry, and helps them uncover their strengths and profiles, matching them with the most suitable opportunities within Lazada’s ecosystem.

“I am excited by the possibilities that digital brings for businesses and people in Singapore and across Southeast Asia,” Teo said. “I look forward to working with all our industry partners, including Lazada, as we build a vibrant and secure digital future together.”
