Lazada Vietnam has entered a series of strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with prominent universities across the country as part of the company’s ongoing “Lazada ECommerce Education” project, which launched earlier this year. Lazada Vietnam is the first eCommerce platform in the country to have long-term partnerships with educational institutions and combine academic studies with practical knowledge of eCommerce operations.
To cultivate a high-quality future workforce, the project aims to build strategic partnerships with leading universities in Vietnam and inspire over 100,000 students in the eCommerce sector through various activities until the end of 2024. From March to July 2023, the company has engaged with four universities with an eCommerce study track – Thuongmai University, Foreign Trade University, National Economics University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – through MoUs, training workshops and career talks. Highlighting the sustainable future of eCommerce and career opportunities available for young talent, these offline events have attracted nearly 1,000 students.
“We are committed in the development of the workforce of the future, which will enable the long-term growth of the wider digital economy in Vietnam,” said Lazada Vietnam Deputy CEO Dang Anh Dung. “Through this project, we hope to inspire students and equip them with hands-on knowledge and valuable skills that will be beneficial for their career development in the dynamic eCommerce industry.”
With the acceleration of digital transformation sectors, the need for a high-quality and tech-savvy workforce has become increasingly important in recent years. According to a recent report by Lazada and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, only 30% of eCommerce employees in Vietnam are fully trained in professional eCommerce courses.
Apart from its Lazada ECommerce Education project, Lazada has also introduced initiatives, such as Lazada University, to nurture talents and build up knowledge of the eCommerce industry. Designed as a one-stop destination for digital commerce education, the initiative provides tailored training content for new and existing sellers to support them on their digital commerce journeys. In Vietnam, Lazada University will soon be expanded to provide practical training programs to students and young talent.
