LazBeat News Roundup: Lazada Launches E-Learning Platform for ECommerce Marketing Solutions

The LazBeat News Roundup is a quick take on the latest happenings at Lazada Group and in the wider regional digital commerce landscape. Highlights from this week’s roundup include Lazada Sponsored Solutions’ new e-learning website, eco-conservation efforts in Indonesia and Lazada’s submission at the 39th IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering.

Lazada Launches E-Learning Website for Digital Marketing Solutions

Lazada Group introduced lazadasolutions.com, a new e-learning website that offers bite-sized, self-guided courses on Lazada Sponsored Solutions (LSS) to members of the public. Upon successful completion of a certification assessment, participants can earn an LSS digital badge to display on their social profiles. The website aims to empower brands, sellers and agencies to better understand and utilize LSS, and to gain credibility and recognition for their digital business skills and expertise. All courses, certifications and educational materials are currently available in English. More languages are set to be introduced in the second half of the year.

Lazada Indonesia Grows Environmental Awareness

Lazada Indonesia organized a mangrove-planting event at the Mangrove Ecotourism Centre Pantai Indah Kapuk earlier this month. The event was part of the eCommerce platform’s ongoing Islands Hackathon, a series of eco-conscious events jointly organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs (Kemenkomarves) and the Archipelagic and Island States Forum, with support from Divers Clean Action. Island Hackathon is aimed at managing waste and protecting the environment and, since its launch in March this year, has included tree-planting activities, island cleanups and a competition that tackles plastic waste.

Lazada’s Paper Selected by Top Technology International Conference

A paper submitted by Lazada and Peking University was accepted last month by the 39th IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering, a leading international academic conference that explores topics related to data-intensive systems and applications. Lazada’s paper focuses on Hierarchical Interest Modeling (HIM), a practical solution for addressing users with low activity rates and dormant behaviors. According to data from the paper, the HIM approach has helped Lazada users enjoy better shopping experiences, which in turn has led to increased platform item page views and gross merchandise value.
