RedMart, Lazada’s online grocery service in Singapore, has installed its first fleet of vending machines at the Raffles Place MRT station.
The five chilled vending machines are stocked with a wide assortment of products, including personal care items, drinks and close to 200 snacks, allowing commuters passing through the busy downtown station to easily purchase their daily necessities on the go.
Customers can choose the items they want on the vending machine’s interactive screen, pay for them via the Lazada mobile app and then immediately collect the dispensed items.
“We want to help busy commuters save time by seamlessly integrating grocery shopping into their daily commute, while providing a wide assortment [of items] with competitive prices,” said Martin Daney, head of RedMart at Lazada Singapore.
The RedMart vending machines are the latest example of Lazada’s efforts to use omnichannel experiences to better serve and engage with consumers. The eCommerce company previously launched an online-to-offline pop-up showcase on Orchard Road, which was met with great success. Its recent 12.12 mega campaign in Indonesia also featured an array of O2O activations, including beauty demonstrations, games and concerts headlined by international superstars.
